About me

Hi, my name is Andrew! I use he/him/his pronouns, am Gen X, and am a second generation Thai-American. I currently live and have raised my family here in Seattle, but was born and grew up in rural Washington. In my free time I love traveling, spending time outdoors, listening to live music, and seeking out the area’s best katsu and curry.

I hold a Masters of Social Work degree from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have spent the last several years providing therapy for children, youth, young adults, and their families in a community mental health setting. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the State of Washington (#LI 60688054).

Entering therapy can be daunting and is a brave step on the path to personal healing, wellness, and transformation. My approach is collaborative, person-centered, and trauma-informed. My goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment in which clients feel free to be creative, reflective, and courageous.

My guiding principles

Social justice and equity. I believe that oppression is systemic and pervasive. It affects us all, both individually and collectively, as it manifests in unique combinations of discrimination and privilege. I have a responsibility to develop awareness of my own biases and intentionally practice inclusive values, attitudes, and behaviors.

Self care is community care, and community care is self care. I believe that in taking care of ourselves, we increase our sense of belonging to others and to our community. When we invest in our community, we are creating a relationship that nurtures the soul.

Resiliency. I believe that all individuals and communities possess strengths and resources, have the ability to solve problems, and can overcome obstacles and challenges. This principle is central to my work as a therapist.

Curiosity and courage. I value curiosity. Curiosity is the antithesis of assumptions, judgment, and concrete thinking. Courageousness is the risk that we take to try something new, or to entertain a notion that there may be other perspectives.

Collaboration. I believe that the relationship between the therapist and the client is collaborative, and my approach is egalitarian. Together we will discuss your objectives for therapy, the path we take to achieve those objectives, and how to evaluate our progress.

Apple Tree

Between stimulus and response there is space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In that response lies our growth and our freedom.
